Heritage & Expression: Reinterpreting Yves Saint Laurent’s Inspection

In my first-year course, we researched Yves Saint Laurent’s design process and how he drew inspiration from global cultures. I explored his fascination with Morocco, merging it with the artistic style of Jean-Michel Basquiat—both deeply rooted in vibrant colors, bold forms, and cultural narratives. By combining Moroccan motifs with Basquiat’s raw expression, I developed my own unique pattern, blending tradition with contemporary artistic energy. This project reflects the power of cross-cultural inspiration in fashion design.
